Euclid Square Park Renovation
Euclid Square Park is a 2.8 acre park located in the south end of Oak Park one block north of Roosevelt Road and one block east of Oak Park Avenue. As part of a major renovation of this park which began in early April 2017, the Park District constructed a new, fully ADA-accessible playground featuring permeable rubber surfacing, the tennis courts were totally renovated and pickleball lines were added for multi-use, and a small sled hill was created for toddlers. Additionally, improvements were made to the looped pathway system, a small interpretive rain garden was created and additional landscaping was planted throughout the park including native and ornamental trees and shrubs. Euclid Square Park reopened to the public on Saturday, August 26, 2017.
A site plan for Euclid Square Park was developed in 2008-09 through an extensive public input process. Phase I improvements, completed in spring 2011, included removal of existing site furnishings including backstops, benches and fencing; site grading and drainage improvements in the outfield/multi-purpose field; construction and installation of ball field improvements, concrete pathways, new site furnishings and landscaping. Â
In January 2015, Governor Quinn awarded a $400,000 OSLAD (Open Space Land Acquisition and Development) Grant for Phase II improvements to Euclid Square Park. These funds covered the partial cost of the park renovation. The remainder of the project was funded through the Park District’s Capital Improvement Plan.
