This much-needed facility will allow the Park District of Oak Park to extend services to Oak Park’s diverse population, reach underserved residents and help strengthen our community bonds.
A Vision for Equity and Inclusion
The call for a Community Recreation Center is driven by members of our community, answering a long term request to fill a community need. In 2016, a feasibility study was conducted in partnership with six Oak Park government entities (Village, D97, D200, Library, Township, and the Park District) which definitively demonstrated that residents want a community recreation center in Oak Park.
The Parks Foundation has taken on this initiative and have launched a Capital Campaign to fund this project without increasing taxes. The Park District of Oak park has engaged a talented design and construction management team to design a multi-phased facility that will include gymnasiums, a fitness center, community and multi-purpose rooms, mental health services, and more.
This site will serve as a conduit for communication with the public to gather feedback and showcase progress as the team moves through the design of Phase One for the new facility. See the live webcam below for a sneak-peek on the CRC’s future!
