A Message from the Park District of Oak Park

June 2, 2020

Dear Park District Patrons,

Building a strong community through inclusion and diversity is a pillar of the Park District of Oak Park.

The Park District stands in support of black and brown people who are suffering under racial inequity that divides our country and many communities. We are committed to taking positive actions that build more inclusive and supportive programs and places that help ensure the health and wellness of all our residents by providing all a place to belong.

The Park District supports the position of the National Recreation and Park Association’s response to systemic racism across the country.

Please read the NRPA statement here.

Stay healthy. Stay safe.

Jan Arnold
Executive Director, Park District of Oak Park

6.18.20 Park Board Meeting Update

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the State of Illinois enacted amendments to the Open Meeting Act that authorize public bodies to host public meetings virtually in the event of a declaration of a disaster.  Park District Board President Lentz has determined that an in-person meeting of the Park District of Oak Park’s Regular Board Meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2020, is not practicable or prudent.  Accordingly, the meeting will take place via conference call, *not* on site at the Hedges Administrative Center, 218 Madison Street at 7:30pm.  The Hedges Administrative Center remains closed to the public.

If you wish to make a public comment related to the meeting, please complete this form no later than 5:30pm on June 18. The Executive Director will read your comment under the public comment item of the Park Board meeting agenda.
