Welcome to the art of decalcomania. This artistic technique creates a random texture that resembles spindly tree branches, feathery foliage, or frost patterns. We will enhance with metallic liquid watercolor paints and create a moody, luminous landscape or a fun abstract that glows.
How can you make glitter less messy? Liquify it! Combine the glitter colors of your choice in clear glue to create a custom palette for your original work of art. Using traditional paint first, participants with layer their glitter “paint” as a top coat to add some sparkle and shine.

The Chia Pet is an American icon. We’ll use sponge paper, waterproof markers, and chia seeds to create a custom Chia seed growing canvas. Create a basket with a slight twist. Yarn soaked in glue, ribbon, raffia, cords and more can be used to make a looping and overlapping network to weave through and about. Be free to lump and overlap in the organic style basket form.

In the 1800s, many homes were decorated with “Penny Carpets”, made from miss-matched fabric cut into circles. Patches were then layered and stitched together to make a large piece. Students create a Penny Carpet with fabric scraps. Each section is sewed to felt swatches, then joined to make a larger piece of art.
